This year's Big Brother house refit saw the place turned into a small British village complete with shops, town hall, duck pond and even a bus stop.
Channel 5's drama-doc "Elizabeth 1st" followed the life of the titular monarch through a combination of visual narration and reconstruction. Working as Assistant Art Director with Chloe Wood and Jessica Esmond, we adapted existing locations with era-appropriate dressing.
Crystal Maze, SU2C
2016's Channel 4 Charity event for Stand Up to Cancer saw the return of the beloved 90's game show "The Crystal Maze" for a one-off special. Working with Games Producer Chris Lore and Set Designer Owen Gundry, we adapted the pre-existing "Crystal Maze Experience" with extra dressing and new games to keep the celebrity guests guessing.
Big Brother 2016
Working with Designer Patrick Watson for Channel 5's Big Brother, the house underwent a major re-fit this year with every section of the complex getting the treatment. My input was in the planning of the secretive new "Second House" which included combined living space, bedroom, bathroom and a garden.
Euro 2016, ITV Sport
ITV's title sequence for their coverage of the 2016 UEFA Euro 2016 was a mix of animated vignettes appearing as though they were classical promotional posters coming to life. Working with Jessica Esmond, we fabricated a free-standing frame that was taken to locations around Europe for filming the live-action segments.
Gore Active Wear
For this low-budget promo for Gore-Tex's line of their own outdoor wear, I constructed a "Tunnel of Light" to create a test-environment where the jackets got put through their paces with wind and rain effects. This video was filmed in-house with the agency 1000heads.
Unibet "Luck is no Coincidence"
Working with Signal TV and Pinewood Creative, I Art Directed a series of commercials for Unibet that cut between studio-based living room set and sport-action sequences shot on location and enhanced with VFX.
Steve McQueen: The Man and LeMans
2015 feature-documentary "McQueen: The Man an LeMans", produced by The Noah Media Group, featured reconstruction sequences throughout. Using information gathered by the researchers, as well as doing some research of my own, we sourced dressing that was not only accurate to the period, but also to the specific settings.
Released in 2016, Scottish Mussel is the debut feature of writer-director Talulah Riley. My involvement with the production as Prop Master oversaw a variety of large location-dresses and a selection of prop-makes including a giant pile of freshwater mussels.
Channel 4's 2015 network-spanning dramas about Manchester's LGBT community Cucumber, Banana and Tofu had interconnecting characters, locations and plot lines. My involvement as Assistant Art Director, to Monica Black and Bobbie Cousins, was in providing technical drawings to the construction crew of our warehouse-conversion in Manchester.
Cancer Research "Enemy"
Cancer Research's 2013 commercial, directed by Frank Budgen was a mix of effects shots and inserts shot on location at the national Cancer Research Centre in West London. My input as Trainee Art Director for Julia Sherborne was in the facilitating the effects shots, sourcing materials and dressing the laboratory location.
For the 2016 low-budget feature film "Stoner Express", also titled "AmStarDam" in other regions, I provided the set drawings for the three major settings for the film. These were the interior and exteriors of 2 novelty cannabis cafés in Amsterdam. The interiors were shot in 3 Mills while the exteriors were built onto the façades of existing buildings on location.
Disclusure Ft. Sam Smith: Latch
For Sam Smith and Disclosure's 2012 breakout single "Latch" I was responsible for the design and construction of the elevator set, complete with sliding doors and "sprinkler system" water effects.
